Meetings - AbstractMike Magsig OU CIMMS/WDTB A brief description of WES is provided as a potential tool for playback of data sets using NWS operational software. The free version of WES can be used by all LATEST workshop members to help focus the development of tools and techniques that promote optimal real-time use by the NWS. The current AWIPS software in WES2.0 can be customized to display total lightning data, as in the Huntsville office, for static review of cases. The current WES2.0 does not support simulation mode playback of archived lightning data, where the data automatically updates in loops that are synched with a ticking clock. Future WES plans relevant to LATEST are also discussed.
