The Southern Thunder Workshop will bring together data and product producers and decision-making
consumers. Collaboration among participants will advance the scientific understanding of thunderstorm
processes and help develop nowcasting and warning decision-making applications that use total
lightning in an operational environment.

Kennedy Space Center Tour

Two tours are being offered as part of the Southern Thunder 2009 Workshop. The first is a tour of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and 45th Weather Squadron weather operations. The tour will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, 27 July and last approximately 3 – 4 hours. It may also include visits to some weather instrumentation sites as well as historical launch pads, time and weather permitting. The second tour, with registration on this page, is a behind-the-scenes look at Space Shuttle operations at Kennedy Space Center. It will occur Friday morning, 31 July. The tour is scheduled to begin at the hotel at 8am and conclude at 1pm back at the hotel.

If your schedule allows, please sign up for one or both tours by filling out the information on the form attached below for the Kennedy Space Center tour. The registration for the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station tour is found under the CCAFS Tour in the Activities tab. Please fill out the form and return to Jennifer Wilson (Jennifer.G.Wilson@nasa.gov) by 12 June 2009. This tour is subject to operations on Kennedy Space Center, and could be cancelled in the event of a last minute change in operations. Also, please note that there are separate forms for U.S. citizens and foreign visitors for the CCAFS tour.
