Mr. Buechler has worked in the lightning group with scientists at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center since 1985. He has worked in a number of field programs involving lightning/storm research.

Mr. Buechler is a member of the American Meteorological Society, National Weather Association, ans the American Geophysical Union. He is on the remote sensing committee of the National Weather Association. He has published a number of papers on lightning research in various journals.
