Erik R. Reimers
Erik Reimers is a full-time undergraduate student at UAH, as well as a Research Assistant at NSSTC. He is double-majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics, mostly because he likes both and enjoys school way too much. He maintains a 4.0 GPA, and is a recipient of the UAH Platinum Scholarship, as well as the Jane Knight Lowe Memorial Scholarship. He aspires to teach computer science as a full-time professor, which would most likely involve a lot of research to complement the actual classes. Erik does analysis of the data gathered by the Cooperative Huntsville Area Rainfall Measurement (CHARM) network, as well as curating, updating, and polishing the CHARM website until it is informative, easy-to-use, and generally shiny. He is gradually transitioning into managing CHARM. He also does overhauls and updates of NASA websites, including the one you are reading right now. Prior to being a Research Assistant, he programmed test machines for circuit boards coming off of assembly lines. He graduated from Virgil I. Grissom High School in the Class of 2005 with Honors and an Advanced Degree, and was a National Merit Finalist. In high school, he was enrolled in a Computer Electronics curriculum at the Huntsville Center for Technology, where he was team leader of a project for the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) program. His team designed, built, and programmed a training locker for astronauts bound for the International Space Station (PDF article). |
