Pat Culbert is a highly regarded authority on Maya civilization. He is an expert on Maya ceramics and the tropical environment and has published on a wide variety of topics in Maya archeology. He is the author of The Lost Civilization: The Story of the Classic Maya, The Ceramic History of the Central Highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, and Introducing Culture (with E. Schusky), and is the editor of The Classic Maya Collapse, Precolumbian Population History in the Maya Lowlands (with D. Rice), and Classic Maya Political History. He received his doctorate form the University of Chicago, and is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Arizona.
