Vikalp Mishra

Dr. Mishra holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a specialization in hydrology and water resources. His experience and research interests are in the field of remote sensing in hydrology and water resources, hydroclimatic extremes and large-scale modeling. His research is focused on critical zone hydrology, understanding the non-linear and interconnected dynamics between different components including soil moisture, evapotranspiration, soil and plant characteristics etc. Dr. Mishra works in Modeling and Data assimilation team within SPoRT, focusing on the Atmospheric Land Exchange Inverse (ALEXI) Model and working towards its advancement, implementation, and applications. Dr. Mishra has been involved with ALEXI model and the team for almost a decade, leading multiple publications on the topic. In addition to SPoRT, he is also involved with NASA SERVIR and Alabama State Climatology Office on projects related to hydroclimatic extremes.
